Jane A Liljehorn

A funeral service for Jane A. Liljehorn will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWayne Dow officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Jane Adele Liljehorn, 96 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Jane was born on August 2, 1927, in Minden, Nebraska, the nineth of eleven children born to Robert and Fannie (Monk) White. She received her education from Minden Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1945.

On May 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Daryl Markward Liljehorn and to this union, they were blessed with four children: Linda, Bernard, Russell, and Roger. The family made their home in rural Funk, Nebraska, where Jane was a homemaker and farmwife and worked alongside Daryl with the farming operation. She was preceded in death by Daryl in December of 2004. In 2015, she began to make her home at Chrisoma West Care Community in Holdrege.

Jane was a talented quilter and enjoyed quilting at the Holdrege Senior Center. She also enjoyed fishing, playing Solitaire, putting together puzzles, caring for her family, and she was an amazing cook and loved to cook!  The family always looked forward to Sunday dinners, including her homemade noodles, Chocolate Cake, and mashed potatoes.

She was a faithful member of the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church in rural Funk and in recent years, attended the Chapel at Christian Homes.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daryl Liljehorn; daughter, Linda Hendrickson and her husband, Paul; son, Bernard Liljehorn and his wife, Linda Lou; daughter-in-law, Carol Liljehorn; great-granddaughter, Kylie Hendrickson; sisters: Velma (Eldon) Anderson; Shallo (Frank) Remmenga; and Erma (George) Miller; brothers: George (Agnes) White; Amos White; Robert (Norma) White; Frank (Ethel) White; Earl White; Fred (Naomi) White; and Ernest (Naomi) White.

Jane leaves to celebrate her life; her two sons: Russell Liljehorn of Kearney; and Roger Liljehorn and his wife, Linda of Holdrege; seven grandchildren: Tina (Tom) Silvers; Terry (Teresa) Hendrickson; Tiffany (Kyle) Vincent; Jeanette Berkeypile; Mark (Jennifer) Liljehorn; Kurt (Tina) Liljehorn; and Mike (Anna) Liljehorn; four step-grandchildren:  Billi (Chuck) Anderson; Bambe (Todd) Poppert; Barbara (DJ) Zimmerman; and Janet (Michael) Kleen; 16 great-grandchildren; many loved great-great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Jane's honor, and kindly suggested to Holdrege Senior Center or the Chrisoma West.
