Janet L Harrold

A Celebration of Life Service for Janet L. "Jan" Harrold will be held at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating.  Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska at 1:30 p.m.

Janet Lee "Jan" Harrold, 59 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at her home in Holdrege.  Jan was born March 7, 1956 in Denver, Colorado, the eldest of three daughters born to Donald Dean and Delores R. (Stagemeyer) Karash.  She received her education from Beaver City High School in Beaver City, Nebraska, graduating with the class of 1974.  She pursued higher education from the Grand Island School of Business.

On August 23, 1975, she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Harrold and to this union one son was born, Jamie. The family made their home in Holdrege.

Jan was employed by W.F. Anderson Construction as a secretary.  In 1986, she began as the administrative assistant at the Principal Financial Group in Holdrege.  She has enjoyed meeting and visiting with people for the last 29 years.

Jan enjoyed music; singing and playing percussion as young woman and carrying that love of music in to later life.  She was thrilled that her love of music, was passed to her grandchildren, with dancing and drum playing. She enjoyed going out to eat with friends and family.  She especially enjoyed time spent with her three grandchildren.

Jan was an amazing care giver through the last years, helping with her parents, sister and mother-in-law and father-in-law.  She enjoyed cooking.  The family will miss her amazing meals.

She was a member of the Christian Women's Club in Holdrege.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores in 2006; granddaughter, Rachel in 2008; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Luella and Donald Harrold both in 2014.

Jan leaves to mourn her husband, Tom of Holdrege; one son, Jamie Harrold and his wife, Jessica of Kearney, Nebraska; three grandchildren:  Jadon, Reese and Jax Harrold all of Kearney; father, Donald Karash of Arapahoe, Nebraska; sisters, Julie Burge of Arapahoe and Joann Humston and her husband, Randy of Kearney; nephew, Garrett Humston of Kearney; brother-in-law, Bill Harrold; uncle, Ron Karash; many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Jan's honor and will be designated at a later date.
