Memorial Graveside Services for Janet A. King will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege with Pastor Darren Stroh officiating.

Janet Ann King, 69 years of age, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Eastmont Towers Community – Monarch facility, in Lincoln. Janet was born in Holdrege on March 19, 1946, the youngest of two children born to Ralph and Erma (Hoffman) Johnson. She received her primary education from R-7 school at Holdrege and graduated with the Holdrege High School class of 1964. She then pursued higher education from Kearney State College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1967.

On February 23, 1966, she was united in marriage to Craig King and to this union one son, Timothy was born. While Craig was in the United States Navy, she taught in Chula Vista, California. Upon returning to Lincoln, Janet earned her Master's in Education from University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated in 1971. She taught in the Lincoln Public School System for 31 years, retiring in 2008. Craig preceded her in death on April 20, 2014.

She was a member of the Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln and was active in a number of volunteer positions. Janet had a special place in her heart for her students but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Stanley "Mike" Johnson.

She leaves to mourn her passing; son, Tim King and his wife, Angie of Lincoln; brother, Waynard Johnson and his wife, Donna of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Brad King and his wife, Kathy of Fremont, Nebraska; along with niece, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Janet's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Janet's honor and kindly suggested to the Food Bank of Lincoln or the Capitol Humane Society in Lincoln.
