Funeral Services for Janet L. Shultz will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in South Dakota.

Janet Louise Shultz, 64 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born on September 13, 1948 at Rapid City, South Dakota, the fourth of nine children born to Paul and Dorothy (Dustrude) Hudson. She received her education from St. Francis Boarding School in Marty, South Dakota.

Janet was married to John Shultz on January 8, 1971, in Rapid City, South Dakota and to this union three children were born: Eugene "Alan", Teresa and Matthew. They later divorced.

In 1994, she met Harvey Herrick. They enjoyed spending time together, traveling to see family and friends.

Janet was a member of the Mother Butler. She enjoyed word search puzzles and sitting outside enjoying nature. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandbabies.

Janet stayed at home with her children and grandchildren. She later worked at the Plains Motel and Fraternal Order of Eagles #3132 in Holdrege as a housekeeper.

Janet was preceded in death by an infant brother, Johnny; father, Paul Hudson and brother-in-law, Gene Rittenberry.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her children: Eugene "Alan" Hudson and his wife, Bobbie Jo of Usk, Washington, Teresa Olexo and her husband, Rick of Ravenna, Nebraska, and Matthew Shultz and his wife, Nicole of Holdrege; her loving and caring companion, Harvey Herrick of Holdrege; her mother, Dorothy Hudson of Rapid City, South Dakota; brothers: Sonny Hudson, Steve Hudson and Paul Vincent "P.V." Hudson and his wife, Debbie of all of Rapid City, South Dakota; sisters: Gloria Rittenberry of Ashland City, Tennessee, Diane Hudson and her husband, Del of Piedmont, South Dakota, Paulette Montileaux and her husband, Donald of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Geri Rivers of Arlington, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren: Dakota Hudson, Hunter Hudson, Allen Shultz, Tyler Olexo, Payton Shultz, Dalton Olexo, Ashley Bordeaux, Sherryll Wynne, Jackie Kruback, Renee Wynne, Racheal Wynne, Selena Wynne, Cassandra Shultz and Brittney Shultz; two great-grandchildren: Gabbie Hudson and Tythan Young, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 prior to services at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
