Memorial services for Janet Thorin will be held at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Snider officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Janet Marie Thorin, 70 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. She was born December 24, 1940 in Columbus, Nebraska, at the Lutheran Hospital, to Theodore Magnea and Berniece (Drummond) Swanson. Janet was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Columbus. She attended and graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1959.

Janet attended Beauty School and worked for various shops in Columbus. She later worked as a Nurses Aid in the Columbus Hospital. On February 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Thorin at the Lutheran Church in Albion, Nebraska. To this union, one son was born: Charles Henry Thorin, Jr.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law; four aunts; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Darlene Swanson and a brother-in-law, Delmer Crocker.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Chuck, of Holdrege; one son, Charles H. Thorin, Jr., of Leander, Texas; sister, Charlotte Crocker of Wichita Falls, Texas; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established and can be designated to the family.
