Memorial Services for Janice L. Rosenthal will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Stan Murdoch and Pastor Murray Jones, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Janice Louise Rosenthal, 68 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away suddenly with an acute illness on April 13, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Janice was born February 14, 1939 at Holdrege, the only child of Gayle M. and Dorothy E. (Lundin) Johnson. She received her education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1957. Following her education, she was employed at the Brewster Hospital in Holdrege for many years and when the hospital changed to the Holdrege Medical Clinic she continued her work in the Pharmacy until her retirement.
On July 26, 1960 she was united in marriage to Roger Mattson and to this union two daughters were born: Lori Lynn and Angela Louise. On December 30, 1982 she was united in marriage to David Rosenthal. The couple enjoyed time at the lake, boating and spending time with their grandchildren.
Janie had a special place in her heart for children and enjoyed babysitting for many families through the years. She enjoyed the many friendship bonds formed over the years caring for children and these relationships continued into their adulthood and in some cases even into the next generation. She enjoyed cooking, baking, tending to her flowers, gardening and caring for others over the years. Family was very important to Janie and she loved vacationing in Colorado, with her cousins.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, David of Holdrege; two daughters: Lori Means and her husband, Andy of Lincoln, Nebraska and Angela L. Mattson of Atlanta, Georgia; two step-sons: Michael Rosenthal and his wife, Linda, Honolulu, Hawaii and Todd Rosenthal and his wife, Kim of Lincoln; eight grandchildren: Chelsea, Morgan, Charles, Nicholas, Isaac, Garrett, Casey and Julianna; father-in-law, Clarence Rosenthal of Syracuse, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Esther Rosenthal.
Visitation for memorial book signing will be held on Monday, April 16, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
