A Celebration of Life for Jean Brush will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at their home at 520 Maberly Street, Holdrege, NE 68949.
Velma Jean "Jean" Brush, 80 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on May 11, 2026, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Jean was born in Stratton, Nebraska, on December 1, 1945, the second of three children, born to E.D. and Nellie (Seybold) Jones. She received her education from Trenton Public School and later attended and graduated from Curtis High School, with the class of 1965.
On June 20, 1965, Jean was united in marriage to Jerry Brush in Trenton, and to this union three children were born: Roy, Troy, and Barbara. The couple made their home in Curtis, Nebraska, where Jean stayed home to help raise her children. The family then moved to Holdrege, where Jean worked at Becton Dickinson for over 30 years as an assembly operator as well as at Christian Homes in the kitchen from 2003 to 2011.
Jean enjoyed making crafts. She always had a beautiful flower and vegetable garden and would can as much as she could. She loved helping her children with their activities when they were younger, including being a Cub Scout and 4-H leader.
She was a member of the Berean Fundamental Church in Curtis, Nebraska, and the Awanis Club.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Lloyd Jones; Johnnie Jones; and one grandson, Colter Niles Riley.
Jean is survived by her husband, Jerry of Holdrege; three children: Roy Brush Indianola, Nebraska; Troy Brush and his wife, Terri of Kearney, Nebraska; Barbara Linden and her husband, Shawn of Cairo, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Justin Brush; Schuyler Brush; Jayden McLaughlin and her husband, Connor; and Parker Brush; Zackary Riley and his wife, Jessica; Cody Renken; Casey Renken and his wife, Cassidy; Colton Renken; two great-grandchildren: Raelyn and Logan Renken; two sisters-in-law: Judy Jones; Teresa Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials in Jean's honor are suggested to the family for a later designation.
