Memorial Services for Jeanne Johnson will be conducted on Monday, September 25, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow and Pastor Kyle Bendorf officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Erma "Jeanne" Johnson, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska. Jeanne was born on September 24, 1932, northeast of Huntley, Nebraska in Harlan County, the fourth of seven children born to Clarence and Ethel (Maret) Murphy. She attended school in Loomis, Nebraska, graduating from Loomis High School with the class of 1950.

On November 23, 1950, Jeanne was united in marriage to Robert "Dean" Johnson of Atlanta, Nebraska at the Methodist Church in Loomis. The couple was blessed with three sons: Don, Gary and Craig. In 1958, the family moved to the Johnson family farm, two miles south of Ragan, Nebraska. Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always provided for her family's needs before her own. On August 22, 2015, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean.

Jeanne was a member of the Ragan United Methodist Church, where she was active in the U.M.W., and throughout the years, enjoyed her friendships formed in the Two-Mile Square Club.  Jeanne loved to quilt, and piece quilts together.  A labor of love was put into each quilt she made for each grandchild for graduation and their weddings.  She also loved reading, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, and her husband, Dean, Jeanne was preceded in death by: one sister, Virginia Harms and her husband, Tony; one brother, Richard Murphy; sisters-in-law: Doris Lavene and her husband, Daniel, Leone Woollen, and Lois Anderson and her husband, Donn; brothers-in-law: Melvin Johnson and his wife, Clyda, Merlyn Johnson and his wife, Dorcel, Larry Johnson, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Norman Burman, Bernard Woollen and his wife, Juanita, and Frank Wentling.

Jeanne leaves to celebrate her life, her three sons: Don Johnson and his wife, Joan of Oro Valley, Arizona, Gary Johnson and his wife, Laurie of Papillion, Nebraska, and Craig Johnson and his wife, Erma of Bridgeport, Nebraska; eight grandchildren:  Stu Johnson and his wife, Kristin; A.J. Johnson and his wife, Kim; Shari Wood and her husband, Matt; Josh Johnson; Ross Johnson; Nathan Johnson; Erma Leonard and her husband, Matt; and Aaron Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Veneta Johnson of Holdrege and Marcia Burman of Sumner, Nebraska; two brothers: Don Murphy and his wife, Kathleen of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Merle Murphy and his wife, Janet of Beatrice, Nebraska; one sister-in-law: Phyllis Wentling of Franklin, Nebraska; two brothers-in-law: Dennis Johnson and his wife, Shirley of Franklin, and Rodney Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is honoring Jeanne's wish for cremation. There will be no visitation.

A memorial has been established in Jeanne's honor, and kindly suggested to the United Methodist Church in Ragan.
