Jeannine E Hopkins

Funeral Services for Jeannine E. Hopkins will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Jean Clayton officiating.  Burial will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Jeannine Elaine Hopkins, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney, Nebraska.  She was born February 23, 1932, in Holdrege, the youngest of five children born to Tony and Madge E. (Hackman) Schwarz.  She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools.

On February 12, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert Leigh "Hoppy" Hopkins, and the couple made their home in Holdrege, where they raised their two boys: Steve and Brad. Jeannine was employed at several businesses in Holdrege, including: Standish Drug Store, Elstun's Drug Store, Sawyer Sand & Gravel, and Becton Dickenson.

On June 7, 2018, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

She enjoyed crocheting, going to auctions, telling stories, spending time with her grandchildren and taking on the role of caregiver to many. Family was most important to Jeannine and she cherished all of the times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers: Anton (Doris) Schwarz and Charles Schwarz; sister, Mary Ann Johnson and her husband, Lloyd; sister-in-law, Leida Ruth Hopkins; and nephew, William "Billy" Johnson.

Jeannine leaves to celebrate her life; her two sons: Steve Hopkins and his wife, Elaine of Holdrege and Brad Hopkins and his wife, Melissa of Kearney; five grandchildren: Robert Hopkins and his wife Cathy, Matt Hopkins, Anna Hopkins, James Hopkins, and Brandon Hopkins; several great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Lou Lebeau; along with special nieces: Debra Johnson, and Nancy LeBeau; other many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 5:00 p.m.to 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Jeannine's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
