A celebration of life service for Jeffrey L. Farmer will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Christian Homes Care Community Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Jeffrey Lee Farmer, 67 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. He was born January 15, 1948 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the sixth of seven children born to Walter Lee Farmer, Sr. and Edna Lee (Fisher) Farmer. At a young age the family relocated to California, where Jeff received his education.
Following his education, Jeff pursued his passion of an independent contractor and painter, which lasted his entire working life.
On December 28, 1971 he was united in marriage to Deborah Robinson and to this union three daughters were born: Gina, Mellissa, and Sherry. The family made their home in Azusa, California. On June 2, 1971 he was inducted into the United States Army, and Jeff received training from the West Coast Trade School, where he received his certificate for basic mechanic and his certificate of driver training at the U.S. Army Medical Training Center at headquarters, Camp Bullis in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Jeff was honorably discharged on July 6, 1972.
Following his service, Jeff returned to California, where he continued his career as a painter and worked as a contractor remodeling houses. In 1990 he relocated to Holdrege, where he resided until his passing.
He enjoyed fishing with friends, playing card games and most of all he loved the time spent with his grandchildren. Jeff was well known for his sense of humor, telling jokes and loved doing card tricks for his family and friends.
Besides his parents; Jeff was preceded in death by two sisters: Evelyn Lee Farmer and Virginia Lee Farmer; twin grandchildren of his daughter, Gina and a grandson, Simon Uhrich; and nephew, Bobby Wrathall.
He leaves to celebrate his life; his three daughters: Gina McHenry and her husband, Daryl of Tecumseh, Nebraska, Mellissa Voshell and her special friend, Robert Pafford Jr. of Holdrege, and Sherry Farmer and her wife, Sarah of Holdrege; adopted son, Jon Wallace and his wife, Heather of Holdrege; son-in-law, Sam Uhrich of Holdrege; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Walter Lee Farmer, Jr. of California, Robert L. Farmer of Arizona, and Wes L. Farmer of California; one sister, Merilyn Wrathall of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Jeff's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Jeff's honor and will be designated at a later date.
