Memorial Services for Jerald L. Erickson will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dale Lambert, officiating. Inurnment will be held prior to services at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Jerald L. Erickson, passed away of acute myeloid leukemia on December 12, 2010 in Denver, Colorado at 65 years of age. Jerry was born in July 20, 1945 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Vernon Eugene and Lucile (Petersen) Erickson. Jerry attended school in Holdrege and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1963 and then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1969 with an Electronics Engineer degree.

Jerry was employed at Martin Marietta/Lockheed Martin for 32 years in the Aerospace divisions, working on projects including the Apollo, Mars Lander, Viking and Titan projects.

He loved back country hiking, target shooting, football, a good joke and being with his family. He was a loving and generous son, brother and uncle who will be present in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Eugene and Lucile P. Erickson.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Janet (Erickson) Hixon; two nieces: Cheryl (Hixon) Knibbe and her husband, John of Foxfield, Colorado, Christie (Hixon) George and her husband, Randal of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and great nieces and nephew: Kelsey, Erin, Erica and Kyle Knibbe.

A memorial has been established and kindly suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Denver.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring his wish for cremation.
