Graveside Memorial Services and Inurnment for Jerald W. Fulmer will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wilcox Cemetery at Wilcox, Nebraska with Reverend Becky Stadler officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Wilcox American Legion Post #377 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
Jerald Wayne Fulmer, 91 years of age, of Franklin, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Franklin Care and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. Jerald was born August 9, 1927 in rural Phelps County, north of Wilcox, the son of Clyde Sylvester and Hilda "Luetta" (Equall) Fulmer. He was baptized at the family home near Wilcox. The family resided three miles northwest of Wilcox until moving to a farm west of Ragan, Nebraska in 1930, and then returned back to a farm north of Wilcox in 1936. Jerald received his primary education from rural schools near Ragan and Wilcox, and then completed his education at Wilcox High School.
On September 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Eileen Elizabeth Ritola at Holdrege, Nebraska. On January 15, 1952, Jerald was inducted into the United States Army, and served his country in the 1 st Infantry Division in Germany as a heavy equipment mechanic in headquarters and Service Company of the 1 st Engineer Battalion. He was honored with the Army Occupation Ribbon and National Defense Medal for service and honorably discharged on December 31, 1953.
On June 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Susie Gayleen Kennedy at Cozad, Nebraska, and to this union two sons were born: Rocky and Shane. On February 11, 1985, Jerald was preceded in death by his wife, Susie. On May 18, 1987, he was united in marriage to Twylah Marie Ames in Kearney, Nebraska. On June 28, 2009, he was preceded in death by his wife, Twylah.
Jerald resided at Wilcox, Kearney, and then relocated to Athol, Kansas for 20 years, prior to making his home in Franklin. Throughout the years, Jerald was employed as an auto mechanic, and then owned and operated his antique business, Second Chance Antiques & Things in Athol.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #759 in Kearney, and the Fred Marran American Legion Post #166 in Kensington, Kansas.
Besides his wives, Jerald was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Rocky and Shane Fulmer; and one sister, Iris D. Miles and her husband, Floyd.
Jerald is survived by special friends and caregivers: John and Linda Schriner of Franklin, Nebraska; and a host of cousins; nephews; other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, his wish for cremation is being honored.
A memorial has been established in Jerald's honor, and will be designated at a later date.
