A Graveside Service for Jerry L. Manning will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery near Merna, Nebraska.
Jerry Lee Manning, 85 years of age, of Holdrege Nebraska, formerly of Hershey, Nebraska, passed away, on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Jerry was born on May 6, 1937, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the third of four children, born to Francis Paul and Alyce Chloe (Miller) Manning. He was raised at Merna and then attended and later graduated from Merna High School with the class of 1955.
On August 19, 1956, Jerry was united in marriage to Sherilyn J. Stevens and this union was blessed with four daughters: Lucinda, Pamela, Joni, Jeri. The family made their home in the North Platte area. Together they enjoyed 26 years of marriage. On October 1, 1982, Sherilyn preceded Jerry in death.
Jerry was later united in marriage to Dee Ann Hyde at Independence, Missouri. The couple made their home in Hershey. They enjoyed 20 years together
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sherilyn; two sisters: Linda Lou in infancy; and Roberta (Wayne) Williams; and one brother, Franklin (Shirley) Manning.
Jerry is survived by his four daughters: Cindy Odean and her husband, Kenny of Hershey; Pam Englert and her husband, Dwight of Kearney, Nebraska; Joni Carter and her husband, Dan of rural Loomis, Nebraska; and Jeri Goodman and her husband, John of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Stephanie (Charles) Maupin; Melanie Aksamit; Jessica (Rob) Brown; JoAnn (Joe) Andersen; Jacob (Cassie) Carter; Joshua (fiancé, Tia Elsasser) Carter; and Jordyn (Nick) Bratton; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; Jerry was also blessed with step-children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren from Dee Ann's family; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation or viewing.
