Jesse Joe Swearingen, 21 years of age, of rural Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home east of Holdrege. Jesse was born July 27, 1990 at Holdrege, the youngest of six children born to Randy J. and Trixie L. (Hewett) Swearingen. Jesse received his education from Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 2009. Following his education, he was employed by CHS CO-OP at Smithfield, Nebraska.

Jesse will be remembered for the size of his heart, his love for the outdoors, his quick wit and the special place in his heart for horses. He loved to hunt, fish, tear-up vehicles, demolition derby preparation and most of all his time spent with family and friends. He was always willing to assist family and friends with any request that was directed to him. Whether it was babysitting, coaching, or just spending time with his nieces and nephews, helping an uncle or cousin with a stock car or teaching a total stranger to ride a horse; Jesse was always there!

He was involved with the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department Cadet Program and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Bernard and Eunice Swearingen; and his maternal grandfather, Gene Hewett; step-grandfather, Areligh Watson; uncle, Jerry Swearingen at nine years of age; and aunt, Clara "Teresa" Swearingen.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents: Randy and Trixie Swearingen of Holdrege; his siblings: Paul and his wife, Crystal, Tori and her husband, Rob, and Travis, Amber, and Brandon; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
