Funeral Services for Jessie E. Klotthor will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Lauber, officiating. Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Jessie Evangeline Klotthor, 91 years of age, of Republican City, Nebraska, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at her home in Republican City. Jessie was born on August 11, 1918 at Oxford, Nebraska, the second of six children born to Oscar A. and Florence M. (Jordan) Rankin. She gave her heart to the Lord as a young woman and was baptized on May 17, 1939 at the Christian Church in Elwood, Nebraska. She received her primary education in a rural school north of Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School class of 1935.
On October 6, 1936 she was united in marriage to Frederick K. Klotthor in Denver, Colorado and to this union seven children were born: Robert, Barbara, Jim, Floyd, Clyde, Doug and Cheryl. The family engaged in farming in South Central Nebraska until moving to La Crescenta, California in 1956. While in California, Jessie ran a day care for 24 years in her home until her retirement in 1980. In 1987, Fred and Jessie returned to Nebraska, making their home in Republican City. She has been a devout Christian, a wonderful family Matriarch, and friend.
She was a member of the Naponee, Nebraska Wesleyan Church.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, music and most of all spending time with her family. On December 29, 2009 she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred.
Besides her husband, Fred and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert; great-grandson, Curtis Klotthor; one brother, Alexander "Calvin" Rankin; and one sister, Lois Marie Bayless.
She leaves to mourn her passing her six children: Jim Klotthor and his wife, Mary Lou of Republican City, Floyd Klotthor and his wife, Adela of La Crescenta; Clyde Klotthor and his wife, Christy of La Crescenta, Douglas Klotthor and his wife, Janine of Bozeman, Montana, Barbara Kerr and her husband, Norman of Republican City and Cheryl Livesey and her husband, John of Dundas, Ontario, Canada; 18 grandchildren and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren and their spouses; 4 great-great grandchildren; two sisters; one brother and his wife; one sister-in-law and her husband; one brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
