Jim Burkholder

A Memorial Service for James P. "Jim" Burkholder will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holdrege Methodist Church, Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Brad Perry officiating.

A private family inurnment will be held prior to the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

James Price "Jim" Burkholder, 79 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.  Jim was born on April 29, 1947, in Holdrege, the youngest of three children born to Herman A. "Burkie" and Beulah H. (Shaffer) Burkholder.  He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1965.

On March 2, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Burkey at the Assembly of God Church in Holdrege.  The couple made their home in Holdrege for a few years and were blessed with two children: Amy and Daniel. They then began to make their home in Loomis.

Jim was employed as a carpenter for many years and later worked at BD, as a set up operator for many years. Jim enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, and fishing.

Together the couple enjoyed attending their grandson's activities, watching K.C. Royals Baseball and all Husker Sports.  He was a member of the Loomis United Methodist Church and ELKS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws:  Charles and June (Schrader) Burkey; brothers-in-law: Gale Davis; Maynard Dunse; Larry Burkey; Brian Burkey; and Bob Acker; sisters-in-law: Dot (Lloyd) Stehl; Susan (Ron) Anderson; and Evonne Burkholder; and a nephew, Paul Davis.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Marilyn Burkholder of Loomis; two children:  Amy Crisman and husband, Roger of Hastings, Nebraska; and Daniel Burkholder and wife, Laura of Hastings; three grandsons: Sam Crisman; and Cameron and Evan Burkholder; siblings: Art Burkholder of North Platte, Nebraska; and Linda Davis of Kearney, Nebraska; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law:  Roberta Dunse of Minden, Nebraka; Peggy Kahler (Lynn Otto) of Arapahoe, Nebraska; Bill Burkey (Jan Lindgren) of Lincoln; Beverly (David) Binning of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and Mary Acker of Edgerton, Missouri; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

There will not be a visitation or viewing the evening prior. The family has chosen cremation.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes or the Holdrege Methodist Church.
