A Celebration of Life Service for Jimmie D. McCully will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. in the grassy area, directly west of the New North Shore Marina parking lot in Republican City, Nebraska. There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon, immediately following the service at the McCully trailer.
Jimmie Duane McCully, 71 years of age, of Republican City, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska, following a long battle with cancer. Jimmie was born on March 13, 1950, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to James Wayne and Gladys Opal (Roberts) McCully. The family moved to Cambridge, Nebraska, and Jimmie received his education from Cambridge Public Schools.
Jimmie worked construction in Kearney. He was employed by Rockwell International, and at Eaton Corporation in Kearney. Jimmie was blessed with two sons: Jon David "J.D." and Christopher Cole.
On August 1, 2001, Jimmie was united in marriage to Bonnie Bailey. The couple made their home in Kearney. For the next 20 years, they operated an over the road truck driving team.
Jimmie and Bonnie enjoyed summers at Harlan County Lake; fishing, boating, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by: his father, James Robert McCully; his mother, Gladys Opal Fellers; a son, Christopher Cole McCully in 2002; his sister, Gladys Yvonne "Tootsie" Foster, and her husband, Frostie; his brother, Ken McCully; and a sister-in-law, Donna McCully.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie McCully of Republican City; his son: J.D. McCully and his wife, Jessica of Sioux City, Iowa; step-son, Fred Perlin of Martin, South Dakota; three grandchildren: Keygan McCully, Callen McCully, and Tyler Chinen; two sisters: Sandy Lylte and her husband, Dan of Rocky Ford, Colorado; and Wanda Behm and her husband, Tom of Bailey, Colorado; one brother, Don McCully of Akron, Iowa; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in Jimmie's honor.
