John Joseph Fredericks

John Joseph Fredericks, 76 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at his home in Holdrege. John was born November 18, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, the third of six children born to Alexander and Mary (Deegan) Fredericks.  He attended elementary school at PS #24 in Brooklyn and attended Bushwick High School.

Following his education, John worked various jobs in New York, including, working at the Super Glue Factory in Brooklyn.

On April 23, 1989, John was united in marriage to Helen Lorraine Liana at the Howard Beach Assembly of God Church in Howard Beach, Queens, New York.  The newlywed couple moved to Florida; and later to Holdrege, to be near family.

John worked maintenance at the hospital before his retirement.

He enjoyed traveling, gardening and tinkering with old cars; every time someone in the family purchased a new car, John made sure they got to use his "special mystery oil."

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; two sisters, Patricia Wilson and her husband, Marion; and Dorothy Fredericks.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his sisters:  Theresa Boyd of Holdrege; Monica Fredericks of Callaway, Nebraska; and Cathy Meyer and her husband, Dennis of Fort Riley, Kansas; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska.

A memorial has been established in John's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
