Celebration of Life Services for John J. Gishwiller will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska, with Pastor Craig Cedar officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Wilcox Cemetery at Wilcox, with Military Honors provided by the Wilcox American Legion Post #377 in conjunction with the United States Navy Military Funeral Honors Team.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; the Gishwiller family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend John's celebration of life service, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.  John's celebration of life service will be live streamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Homes Facebook page.

John Junior Gishwiller, 90 years of age, of Cozad, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Emerald Nursing Home in Cozad.  John was born on March 1, 1931 in Wilcox.  He was one of 6 children to John Gishwiller and Grace Wessels.  John received his primary education from Wilcox Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1948.  Following John's education, he served in the Navy SEABEES during the Korean War.

In 1952, John married LuAlice M. Strong in Wilcox, Nebraska and had four children together: Michael, Jon, Linda, Guy. However, their marriage came to an end in 1966.  He then married Geraldine I. Hinrich in 1968 in Wilcox, Nebraska.  They resided in Wilcox, but often spent their winters in Flagler Beach, Florida.  In later years, John and his partner Margaretha Kloepping of Cozad, Nebraska have shared mutual support and companionship.

John was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lee Gishwiller, on October, 10 2005; and his wife, Geraldine Gishwiller on December 1, 2001.

He is survived by: his partner, Margaretha Kloepping of Cozad, Nebraska; his brother, David Gishwiller of Chino Hills, California; his children:  Jon Leon Gishwiller and his wife of Bear River City, Utah; Linda Gilbreath and her partner of Joplin, Missouri; Guy Love and his wife of Hurst, Texas; his grandchildren: Jamie Gishwiller of Missouri; Brandi Kerns and her husband of Nebraska; Sarah Rawls and her husband of Arizona; Michelle Jackson and her husband of Tennessee; Joshua Gishwiller and his wife of Utah; Rachel Love and her husband of Texas; Jacob Gishwiller of Utah; Doug Jack and his wife of Florida; Jake Wilson and his wife of Missouri; Katelyn Gilbreath of Missouri; Shane Love of Texas; and Ryan Love of Texas; 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.

A memorial has been established in John's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
