John Dike Jr.

A graveside service for John E. W. Dike Jr. will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Pastor Jean Clayton officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the North Platte Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Team.

John Ernest William Dike Jr., 72 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on December 5, 2023, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. John was born in Denver, Colorado on July 7, 1951, to John Sr. and Isa (Williams) Dike. He received his education and graduated high school in Denver, Colorado.

John was inducted into the United States Air Force in Denver, Colorado on August 9, 1971. He completed Basic Military Training School in September 1971 and Aircrew Life Support Specialist Course in December 1971.

John was married many times and loved them all.

John enjoyed bird watching especially hummingbirds, collecting coins, metal detecting, and quiet time.

John was loved by many and will be mourned by all. He worked hard to be a great father and would do anything he could to help someone in need.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Daniel C. Dike; one brother, Ernie Dike; and his lifelong friend, Linda Baker.

He is survived by two children: Jonathan I. S. Dike; and Christina Holliday; four grandchildren; Nichelos; Jackob; Brianna; and one granddaughter by his youngest son Daniel; one brother: Ronald Dike; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in John's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
