Funeral Services for John D. Pinner will be conducted from Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplin DeWane Dow officiating. Following the traditional funeral the family will honor John's wish for cremation and a private family inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at a later date.

John David Pinner, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at his home in Holdrege. John was born on November 13, 1926 in Leaders, Colorado, the second of six children born to Elmer Eugene and Gladys Emela (Ilgen) Pinner. John received his education at Sterling, Colorado.

John was employed as a truck driver for various companies. He then worked in the KN Energy pipe yards in Holdrege for 13 years until his retirement in 1992.

On October 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Eileen Nash and to this union six children were born: David, Linda, Joe, Sandi, Carol and Randy.

On July 11, 1974 he was united in marriage to Helen Bernice Keyser in Holdrege. The family made their home in Holdrege.

John loved fishing and hunting, watching the Huskers, attending auctions and playing poker. John never met a yard sale that he didn't like. He spent many years as a member at the Eagle Lodge in Holdrege and was also a member of the Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge. He was a tremendous people person, who always had a gift for meeting people he didn't know and talking to everyone that he did know.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by children: Betty Morris, Linda Keyser and Jimmy Keyser; daughter-in-law, Norma Keyser; sister: Betty Galbraith; two brothers: Lloyd Pinner and Tom Pinner; and four grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Helen of Holdrege; 15 children: David Pinner and his wife, Mary of Phoenix, Arizona, Linda Bartholomew and her husband, Terry of Morrison, Colorado, Joe Pinner and his wife, Coleen of Tempe, Arizona, Sandi Reed and her husband, Dana of Jansen, Nebraska, Carol Pope and her husband, Daryl of Phoenix, Randy Pinner and his wife, Rosa of Phoenix; Marjorie Hansen and her husband, Wayne of Stapelhurst, Nebraska, Dorothy Barber and her husband, Dean of Bertrand, Nebraska, Jerry Keyser of Wichita, Kansas, Cookie Bradley and her husband, Harold of Holdrege, Mike Keyser of Wichita, JoAnn Wagner and her husband, Wiley of Barnard, Missouri, Patty Sisneros and her husband, Rudy of Frederick, Colorado, Thomas Keyser and his wife, Jennifer of Fairbury, Nebraska; Craig Keyser of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 53 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister: Joan Pizaaz and her husband, Pete of Petaluma, California; one brother, Kenneth Pinner and his wife, Cofia of Salem, Oregon; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to Christian Homes Care Community or the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3132 both of Holdrege, Nebraska.
