Jose A. "Pepito" Urbina

Mass of Christian Burial for Jose Asuncion Urbina will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Father Bernard Lorenz officiating. Burial will follow at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford, Nebraska.

Jose Asuncion "Pepito" Urbina, 24 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska following a brief battle with liver cancer. Jose was born May 20, 1993 in Roswell, New Mexico, to Jose Torres-Urbina and Maria Guadalupe Urbina. He received his primary education from the Instituto de las Americas in Michigan.  His family moved to Oxford and he attended Southern Valley High School, graduating with the class of 2012. Jose pursued higher education from San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico.

Jose participated in football while attending Southern Valley High School; while too gentle for the sport, he invested much of his time towards his love of art and passion for reading.  When he wasn't reading, you could find him playing a plethora of games.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Jose leaves to celebrate his life; his parents:  Jose Torres-Urbina and Maria Guadalupe Urbina of Oxford; three brothers:  Jairo Urbina of Oxford, Jose Angel Torres, and Jorge Alberto Avila; three sisters:  San Juana Torres, Isabel Barron and her husband, Regino, and Monserrat Avila; grandmother, Maurila Montez; Jose was very close with, and is survived by many of his uncles, aunts, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the church.

A memorial has been established in Jose's honor, and kindly suggested to the family.
