Celebration of Life Service for Josh T. Odell will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating. Military honors will be held at the funeral home by the United States Army Military Honors Team. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Joshua T. "Josh" Odell, 35 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 as a result of a motor vehicle accident southeast of Holdrege. Josh was born May 15, 1981 at Holdrege, the youngest of five children born to Timothy and Candance (Nesbitt) Odell. He received his education from Wilcox Public School, graduating from Wilcox High School with the class of 2000. During his high school years he enjoyed football and wrestling and was a State Qualifier in wrestling multiple years.
Following his education, he was inducted into the United States Army, serving his country during Operation Iraqi Freedom for a year as a heavy wheeled mechanic. Josh returned home to Nebraska and continued to serve in the Army Reserves for five additional years. He was a decorated veteran and was honorably discharged in 2006.
Josh was employed as a Kirby Vacuum Sales Representative until entering the field of construction, where he was employed by Sampson Construction out of Kearney, Nebraska. He then began employment for Hawkins Manufacturing of Holdrege until he began working for USA Pros as an independent contractor.
On March 5, 2014 he was united in marriage to Brandee Sasse in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple made their home in Holdrege. They loved to go fishing together, attending NASCAR races, playing Yahtzee, and just spending time with each other and their family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents: James and Connie Betow; and paternal grandparents: James and Lyla Odell.
Josh leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Brandee Sasse of Holdrege; two step-children: Zachery Sasse of Columbus, Nebraska, and Colton Hillin and his fiancé, Tyesha Johnson both of Oxford, Nebraska; one step-granddaughter, Kaelynn Sasse of Columbus; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Kathy and Fred Besco of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sisters: Ranae Hall of Black Hawk, Colorado, Dawn Dahani and her husband, Mourad of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Michele Odell of Holdrege; one brother, Shane Odell and his wife, Kassandra of Holdrege; three brothers-in-law: Nick Sasse and Justin Sasse both of Holdrege, and Josh Sasse of Kearney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including, Matthew Crooker of Alma, Nebraska and Sondra Crooker of Holdrege.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring his wish of cremation.
A memorial has been established in Josh's honor and will be designated at a later date.
