Joyce Ann (Jensen) Bergman, 81 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. She was born on August 12, 1931 in Holdrege, the only child of Andrew and Edna (Frisell) Jensen. She lived on a farm near Ragan until her father died in 1935. Joyce and her mother then moved to Holdrege and lived with her maternal grandparents.

Joyce attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1949. She worked at the Hotel Dale and First National Bank of Holdrege. Joyce was united in marriage to Lemoyne "Speedy" Bergman on June 10, 1952. They made their home on a farm north of Holdrege. They were blessed with three children: Cheryl, Richard, and Charles.

In 1978, she became the cook at R-4 School, and for 23 years she lovingly prepared tasty meals for the students. Her school kids held a special place in her heart throughout her life.

After Speedy's retirement in 1989, he and Joyce began spending their summers at their cabin on Johnson Lake. They enjoyed many family weekends at the lake and entertained family and friends often. Joyce and Speedy moved to Holdrege in 1993. Joyce adored her four grandchildren and followed all of their activities. She loved staying busy and being on the go.
