Juanita "Nita" H Woollen

Funeral Services for Juanita Woollen will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Cemetery, rural Wilcox.

Juanita Helen Ida "Nita" (Johnsen) Woollen, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska formerly of Wilcox, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Juanita was born March 16, 1926, in rural Phelps County, Nebraska, one of nine children born to Walter F. and Amelia (Mietzner) Einspahr. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. She attended and graduated from Wilcox High School with the class of 1944.

On January 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Johnsen in Wilcox. The couple was blessed with four children: Diane, Randy, Cheryl and Larry. Juanita enjoyed staying home with her children. She worked as cook at the school for a short time. Lawrence preceded her in death in 1972.

On March 2, 1974, she was united in marriage to Bernard Woollen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox. They enjoyed watching Husker Football Games together. Nita was an avid golfer and also enjoyed watching it with family. They enjoyed almost 43 years of marriage prior to his death.

Nita loved baking cakes, especially for her kid's birthdays and later her grandkids birthdays and made popcorn balls at Halloween. Family Christmas were special, filled with soup, homemade pies and attending church.

She was preceded in death by; her husbands, Lawrence in 1972 and Bernie in 2017; son, Randy in 2000; step-daughter, Sharon Flood; grandson, Alex Woollen; step-daughter-in-law, Michele Woollen; her eight siblings and their spouses; and son-in-law, Clark V. Norblade on March 5, 2017.

Nita leaves to celebrate her life; her children: Diane Norblade of Axtell, Nebraska, Cheryl Gittelson and her husband, Gary of Oceanside, California and Larry Johnsen of Alma, Nebraska; step-children: Ron Woollen and his wife, Sue of rural Wilcox and Jerry Woollen of Lincoln, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Norden Woollen and wife, Mary Ann of rural Wilcox; sisters-in-law, Helen Woollen and Doris Woollen both of Holdrege; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox.

A memorial has been established in Nita's honor and will be designated at a later date.
