Judith Ann "Judy" Carr, 75 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Bryan Medical Center East Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska. Judith Ann Maas was born November 25, 1946, to Hubert (Hubie) George and Phyllis Maas. She was the second oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Orleans High School in 1965.
Judy married Henry Allen Taylor in 1965 and had three children: Henry Craig, Leslie Ann, and Clayton Allen. Judy and Al were custom harvesters throughout the Midwest and Judy loved running combines and helping with wheat harvest. She especially loved feeding the crew. A noted cook from her days with Al on wheat harvest making meals for a crew to eat on the combines or trucks, Judy loved preparing food for a group of people. They were married for 27 years until Al's death in 1992.
After Al's death, she was employed at BD for 20 years until she retired in 2012. Judy met husband, Gary Carr in Holdrege and they were married in 2000. They joined the First United Methodist Church in 2004 and Judy helped with funeral dinners and other meals for years. She became involved with the Eagles Auxiliary in 2002, and held the President's position for seven years and was currently serving as President, at the time of her passing. She also held the position of meal chairperson, for the numerous funeral dinners the Eagles host.
Judy played on or captained a team for years on the Tuesday Nite Pool League and attended numerous state shuffleboard tournaments. Her end-of-summer garden parties at their home were great times to show off Judy's wonderful gardening skills. All the grandkids loved her gardens.
Judy and her siblings were very close. They met monthly for lunch, to stay in touch, and stay close.
After retirement, Judy was involved with CASA and was a tireless promoter and loved working with the children, and also did fundraising for the Safe House of Kearney, Nebraska.
Judy loved history and was thrilled to attend the "Treasures of the Czars" in Topeka, Kansas, that featured crown jewels and furs of Russia, dating back to Ivan the Terrible. Another of Judy's favorite memories was getting to see Mick Jagger up close and in person at the 2006 Rolling Stones concert. Another favorite memory was her trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, with Gary and Clay.
She was preceded in death by parents Hubert and Phyllis Baker Maas and husband Al Taylor.
Judy is survived by her husband Gary of Holdrege; son, Craig and wife Cassie, granddaughters: Shadie, Roma, and Molly of Lyons, Kansas; daughter, Leslie Donner and husband, Andy of Humphrey, Nebraska, grandsons: Cody of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Jared of Augusta, Georgia, and Landon of Humphrey; and son, Clayton Taylor of Holdrege; her siblings Cathy McGibney, Jean (Ellis) Lambert, Pat (Charlie) Reeser, John (Lezlie) Maas, and Steve (Laurie) Maas.
