Graveside Services and interment for Judith J. "Judy" Kinney will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Norton Cemetery in Norton, Kansas with Pastor Linda Knipping-Potts, officiating.
Judith Jolene "Judy" Kinney, 71 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford, Nebraska) passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma.
Judy was born September 5, 1947 at Holdrege, Nebraska, the younger of two children born to Clarence Earl and Anna Hilma (Stephenson) Kinney. The family made their home in Woodruff, Kansas, until relocating to Oxford in 1941 to be near her Dad's work on the C.B. and Q. Railroad. From birth, Judy had been afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. Although this neurological disorder affected her mobility and speaking ability, her sparkling personality always shined through. Most of her life she resided with her parents in Oxford. After the passing of her father, Clarence in 1998, and when her mother's health began to fail, she and her mother made their home at the Colonial Villa in Alma since February of 2004. On June 3, 2005, she was preceded in death by her mother, Anna.
Judy continued to reside at the Villa, where she loved keeping all the staff on their toes, and made sure they were always tending to their duties! She enjoyed teasing those around her, loved to give and receive hugs, had a vast collection of stuffed animals, was constantly sorting Valentine cards in her room, loved having her nails polished and could often be found toting her zebra printed pink purse. In addition, Judy always enjoyed nurturing others, especially her roommates throughout the years making sure they were covered with blankets.
Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil Kinney and several extended family members.
She leaves to celebrate her life; sister-in-law, Darlene Kinney of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; her nephews: Jeff Kinney of Monument, Colorado; and Kevin Kinney and his wife, Tammy of Murrieta, California; her niece, Robbien Adamczyk and her husband, David of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; and a host of great-nieces; great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
Per the family request, no visitation will be held.
A memorial has been established in Judy's honor, and kindly suggested to the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma.
