A memorial service for Judy Long will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Smithfield, Nebraska, with Mr. Bill Ford officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Industry Cemetery near Atlanta, Nebraska.
Judy Adele Long, 75 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on January 3, 2026, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Judy was born in Lexington, Nebraska, on December 25, 1950, the youngest of six children, born to Freddie and Doris (Holmquist) Renken. She received her education from Bertrand Public School and graduated with the class of 1969. Judy pursued higher education at the Lincoln School of Commerce.
Following her education, Judy worked at various companies as an accounting clerk.
On July 12, 1970, Judy was united in marriage to Gaylord Max Long at the Hope Lutheran Church in Smithfield, and to this union 3 children were born: Aaron, Andrew, and Amy. The couple made their home in Bertrand. Judy enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Roger Renken; and Raymond Renken; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nolan and Ruth Long; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Long; and Jimmy Long.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gaylord Long of El Mirage, Arizona;
children: Aaron Long and his wife, Pam of Bertrand; Andrew Long and his wife, Nicola of Manhattan, Kansas; and Amy Beeder and her husband, Stan of Lincoln; four grandchildren: Austin Long; Megan and Kris Long; and Clara Beeder; one brother, Randy Renken; two sisters: Marlene Dahlgren; Darlene Samuelson; three brothers-in-law: Greg Long; Glen Long; Gary Long; one sister-in-law, Joyce Edgren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation. The family is honoring Judy's wish for cremation.
