Memorial Services for Julie A. (Lind) McKinney will be conducted from the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bill Waterman, officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Fridhem Cemetery prior to the memorial service.
Julie A. (Lind) McKinney, 65 years of age, of Yucaipa, California, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Hampton Manor Skilled Nursing facility in Yucaipa. Julie was born March 10, 1943 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the daughter of Carl and Roxana (Marshall) Lind. She grew up on the family farm near Funk. She received her education from Axtell, Nebraska and while in high school, Julie was actively involved in the vocal and band music programs at Axtell High School, 4-H and the Fridhem Church youth groups. She graduated from Axtell High School with the class of 1960. Julie then pursued higher education at the Luther Junior College in Wahoo, Nebraska for two years.
In 1965, she was united in marriage to George McKinney. During her married life, she and her husband lived in Nebraska, Virginia, Missouri, California, Florida and Tennessee. Her family was the center of her life. She enjoyed doing counted cross-stitch and sewing projects with her friends.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Carl McKinney and his wife, Renee of Gilbert, Arizona; daughter, Robyn Houston and her husband, James of Redlands; grandchildren: Carl William McKinney, Hannah McKinney and Ryan Houston; her mother, Roxana Lind of Kearney, Nebraska; sister, Janet Fox and her husband, Jerry of Kearney; nephews: Gregory and Javier Fox; uncle, Harold Marshall of Holdrege and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents: Emil and Jenny Lind and Oliver and Cassie Marshall.
A memorial has been established in her memory and kindly suggested to the American Cancer Society and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
