Funeral Services for Junior E. Goosic will be conducted from the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Orleans Cemetery.
Junior Earl Goosic, 81 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Junior was born March 3, 1926 at Oxford, Nebraska, the eldest of two children of Charles Earl and Mattie Leona (Butts) Goosic. He received his education from Oxford Public Schools.
Following his education, Junior was united in marriage to Dora Mae Kohlun and to this union one daughter, Linda was born. Junior and Dora Mae worked together to create a small family owned and operated café in Oxford and then later in Orleans. They also enjoyed operating skating rinks in several communities. Junior and Dora Mae traveled many places but they always considered Orleans their home. On February 23, 2006 he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Mae.
He enjoyed woodworking, metalworking, tending to his garden, loved making crafts with his wife, Dora Mae, which they shared with many family and friends. He had a special knack of being able to fix just about anything and was always willing to help others.
He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Linda Harouff of Alma; two grandchildren: Angela Mueller and her husband, Rob of Plattesmouth, Nebraska and Christopher Harouff and his wife, Jen of Stamford, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren; Quentin and Savannah Harouff of Stamford and Madison, Emily, Charles and Maxwell Mueller of Plattesmouth; one sister-in-law, Helen Pyell of Orleans; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lanuel Goosic.
Junior will lie in state at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Orleans on Monday, October 8, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
