Kathleen R. Larson

A memorial service for Kathleen R. Larson will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in rural Maxwell, Nebraska.

Kathleen Rae "Kathy" Larson, 81 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of rural Axtell, Nebraska passed away, on September 22, 2023, at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney. Kathy was born in Kearney County, Nebraska on August 10, 1942, the fourth of six children, born to Lawrence and Iola (Wells) Beaird. She received her education from Axtell Public Schools and graduated from Axtell High School, with the class of 1960.

Following her education, Kathy worked at Brewster's Clinic in Holdrege.

On August 17, 1962, she was united in marriage to Royce Larson at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Axtell, and to this union, they were blessed with three children: Jeff, Andrea, and Devin. After the couple was married, they lived in Virginia and Florida where Royce served in the Air Force. Following his honorable discharge the family returned home to the family farm in rural Axtell, where Kathy raised their family, and when the kids went to school she went to work at the Axtell Community School as a lunch lady.

Kathy enjoyed tending to her yard, but above all else she loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by, two sisters: Marcia Hasty and her husband Vern; and Karol Frecks; three brothers-in-law, Roger Sutton; Ronald C. Larson; and Richard L. Larson; Royce's Parents, Marcellus and Alberta Larson; and Royce's aunt and uncle, Ingrid and Don Hewitt.

She leaves to celebrate her life her children: Jeff Larson and his wife, Dawn, of Yankton, South Dakota; Andrea Runge and her husband, Brett of Axtell; and Devin Larson and his wife, Deena of Leavenworth, Kansas; 13 grandchildren: Jade Olson and her husband, Curt; Bryce Runge and his wife, Taylor; Brandt Runge and his wife, Carlie; Brennan Runge; Aaron Larson; Lindsay Leigh and her husband, Logan; Ashley Ann Larson; Ally Larson; Maggie Larson; Tori Larson; Megan Mack and her husband, Aaron; Ashley Rae Miller and her husband, Aaron; and Emily Parsons and her husband, Aaron;  11 great-grandchildren: Anders, Royce, and Collins Olson; Hollis Runge; Mason, McKinley, and Mathieu Mack; Remy and Ella Parsons; Weston Miller; and one more on the way; three sisters: Shirley Urbom and her husband, Ron; Brenda "Sue" Splitter and her husband, Monty; Julie Jordan and her husband, Dan; one brother-in-law, Glenn Frecks; one sister-in-law, Kathleen A. Larson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Kathy's honor, and kindly suggested to Brookstone Hospice.
