Funeral Services for Kathryn R. Mines will be conducted from the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Bill Waterman, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege, Nebraska.
Kathryn R. Mines, 95 years of age, of McCook, Nebraska (formerly of Funk and Holdrege) passed away on Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. Kathryn was born August 17, 1911 at DuBois, Nebraska, the third of four daughters of Henry and Rosa (Rakosnik) Stokes. She received her education at DuBois, Nebraska, graduating from DuBois High School with the class of 1928.
Following her education she was united in marriage in 1929 to Henry Boehmer of DuBois and to this union three children were born: Louisa, Henry and Rose Ann. The family made their home on a farm near DuBois, where Kathryn was a homemaker and assisted on the farm.
On December 19, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert August Mines of Funk, where the couple owned the Mines Construction Company. Kathryn also owned and operated, Kathryn's Beauty Salon for twenty-seven years in Funk. On December 1, 1976 she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. Following her retirement she moved to Sunrise View Apartments in Holdrege.
Kathryn loved fishing, hunting, tending to her garden, needle point and crocheting. She was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Church Circle for many years.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Rose Ann Wolf of McCook; daughter-in-law, Shirley Boehmer of Axtell, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Lesa Johnson of Axtell, Renee Flammang and her husband, Scott of Cambridge, Nebraska and Edward Craig and his wife, Joanna and of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; seven great grandchildren: Amanda Klein and her husband, Ken of Elwood, Nebraska, Eric Johnson of Axtell, Katelyn Flammang of Cambridge, Brandon, Hannah, Grayson and Catherine Craig all of Georgia; one great-great granddaughter, Abby Marie Klein of Elwood and other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Robert she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Louisa in infancy; son, Henry Boehmer in 2003; son-in-law, Robert Wolf in 1998 and her three sisters.
Kathryn will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
