Funeral Services for Kathy Tegtman will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at Stamford, Nebraska on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Thalia Woodworth officiating. Interment will be held at the Stamford Cemetery following the services.
Kathy Tegtman, 74 years of age, of rural Stamford, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017 at her home, southwest of Stamford. She was born on June 25, 1942 in Oxford, the second of four daughters born to Harold and Polly (Kentfield) Sawyer. She grew up in the Beaver City, Nebraska area, and graduated from Beaver City High School with the class of 1960.
On August 25, 1963, she was united in marriage to Don Tegtman, a relationship of growing love that was to last more than 53 years. Kathy and Don had five children: Brad, Wendy, Cory, Sheila and Karen.
Kathy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford. She devoted the majority of her life to raising her children with her husband and helping tend to the farm. She enjoyed the activities and interests of her children. After graduation of all five children, Kathy enjoyed working at the Walker Post Manor in Oxford, where she made several lifelong friends. Her biggest joy was spending time and cherishing her eight grandchildren: Gregory, Samone, Cierra, C.J., Jacob, Molly, Brock and Saige.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Louise and Mary Sawyer; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Edna Tegtman.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Don of Stamford, Nebraska; five children; eight grandchildren; one sister, Polly J. Richter of South Haven, Michigan; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Ilene Tegtman of Stamford; several nieces and nephews and friends.
There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Kathy's wish for a closed casket.
A memorial has been established in Kathy's honor and kindly suggested to the Stamford Fire and Rescue.
