Funeral Services for Keith L. Claar will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with Chaplain Jean Clayton, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Keith Leroy Claar, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Holdrege Memorial Homes. Keith was born May 12, 1928 on the family farm southwest of Bertrand, Nebraska, the second of three sons of Beryl J. and Rosa M. (Gennrich) Claar. He received his primary education at District #42 in Phelps County and then graduated from Mascot High School with the class of 1946.
Following his education, Keith served his country in the United States Army during WW II stationed in Germany.
After his honorable discharge he returned to Holdrege, where he was employed by the Boston Service Station and later worked at Becton-Dickinson until his retirement.
Keith enjoyed collecting Indian Artifacts, many of which he donated to the Nebraska Prairie Museum in Holdrege, loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing his two brothers: Beryl Claar and his wife, Hazel of Kearney, Nebraska and Kenneth Claar of Gibbon, Nebraska; never having children of his own he is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Marilyn Claar.
Keith will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, August 30, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
