Keith Leroy Ehrenberg of Holdrege was born on November 8, 1939 on a farm near Winnetoon, Nebraska to Elmer and Martha (Cave) Ehrenberg. He was the youngest of six children. He grew up on a farm 1 ½ miles north of Creighton, Nebraska. He attended Bazile Mills rural school and graduated from Creighton High School in 1957. He also attended Grace Bible Church in Creighton. He worked with his father on the farm and in 1963 he took over the farming.
In 1966 he met the love of his life at an Intervarsity party at Wayne State College, Beverly Joyce Meyer of Atkinson, Nebraska. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1967 at Wesleyan Methodist Church in Atkinson and their union was blessed with six children. The couple farmed by Creighton for 7 ½ years, and both Keith and Beverly were baptized early in their marriage at Grace Bible Church. They lived briefly in Grand Island, Nebraska and in 1975 they moved to Phelps County where they have lived ever since. The family attended Holcomb Church and after moving into Holdrege began attending Trinity Church. Keith worked for nearly 30 years for Schrock Farms, retiring in 2004.
Keith accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was 10 years old. He was a loving husband and father who worked hard to care for his family and demonstrated a good work ethic. He loved playing Scrabble with his kids, their spouses, and his grandkids. When someone would play the piano, he would enthusiastically join in on his harmonica. He made a yearly family vacation a priority. He was the best at packing the car with everything. Although he was a man of few words, his family always knew they were loved. He lived his faith quietly and humbly, truly demonstrating Galatians 2:20.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Beverly of Holdrege, children Beth Ehrenberg of Holdrege; Dirk and Becky Ehrenberg of Holdrege; Karmen and Brandon Hamer of Central City, Nebraska; Sara and Ben Sheen of Schoolcraft, Michigan; Laura and Jeremy Maher of Papillion, Nebraska; and Ryan and Cassie Ehrenberg of Holdrege; 14 grandchildren Austin and Karlee Bliss of Holdrege; Nicole Bliss of Holdrege; Connor and Courtney Bliss of Kearney; Garrett Ehrenberg of Jacksonville, North Carolina; Kordell and Cami Hamer of Columbus, Nebraska; Bailey and Marcus Tofflemire of Wayne, Nebraska; Kortney Hamer of Phoenix, Arizona; Brielle Hamer of Central City; Simon, Heidi, Bethany, and Spencer Sheen of Schoolcraft; Colin and Shannon Maher of Papillion; 4 great-grandchildren Xander and Jasper Bliss, Bowen Bliss, Amelia Hamer; sisters- and brothers-in-law Edith Larsen, Rosie Clausen, Ruby Dobias, Herman and Ruth Meyer, and Ken and Elly Meyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, siblings Jean Hueftle and her husband Warren, Lois Clausen and her husband Ken, Marjory Smith and her husband Wayne, Everett Ehrenberg and his wife Audrey, and Stan Ehrenberg. As well as sisters- and brothers-in-law Harry and Elaine Neiman, Ivan and Zelma Meyer, Raymond Dobias, and Gail Meyer.
