A memorial service for Kelly S. Coons will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Elm Creek Cemetery in Elm Creek, Nebraska.

Kelly Shane Coons, 57 years of age, of Elm Creek, Nebraska passed away, on November 27, 2023, in Republican City, Nebraska. Kelly was born in Holdrege on April 24, 1966, the second of three children, born to Richard and Leona (Covey) Coons. He received his education from Elm Creek Public School, graduating with the class of 1984. He pursued higher education at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska.
Following his education, Kelly worked at Eaton in Kearney and was a truck driver.
In August of 1995, Kelly was united in marriage to Kimberly Loudon in Kearney, and together they raised Bryce and Natasha. The couple made their home in Elm Creek, where they owned and operated Coons' Saloon.
Kelly enjoyed fishing, listening to music, talking, and especially telling jokes. He liked to go fast, whether it be on a motorcycle or boat. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Kelly was preceded in death by his father, Richard Coons; nephew, Tucker Coons; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Coons of Elm Creek; son, Bryce Sadd and his wife, Jessica of Elm Creek; daughter, Natasha Beck and her husband, Josh of Axtell, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Payton, Nellie, and Lettie Beck; and Hannah, Madison, and Trey Sadd; his mother, Leona Coons of Elm Creek; brother: Perry Coons and his wife, Lisa of Elm Creek; sister: Candi Headley and her husband, Scott of Greeley, Colorado; niece; Dani Jablonski and her husband, Reed and their daughter, Eiley; nephew, Zach Headley; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing.
The family is honoring Kelly's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Kelly's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
