Funeral Services for Kenneth G. Olson will be conducted from the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Darrel Wissmann officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Kenneth Gayle Olson, 57 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Kenneth was born May 5, 1954 in Kearney, Nebraska the oldest of four children born to Gayle and Alyce (Brown) Olson. He received his primary education from R-6 and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1972.
On June 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Berry at Holdrege and to this union two children were born: Brenton and Angela. On December 27, 1989, they were remarried in Las Vegas, Nevada. They celebrated 30 years together.
Kenny was a Harley enthusiast. He was an excellent cook, known for his rye bread. He was on a pool league with his father for several years. He enjoyed attending Husker football games and spending time with his children. He loved to make people laugh.
Kenny was employed by Becton-Dickenson in Holdrege for 35 years. He also enjoyed farming and trucking.
Kenny was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and his grandparents.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Sheryl of Holdrege; two children: son, Brenton Olson of Holdrege and daughter, Angela Olson of Lincoln, Nebraska; trusty sidekick, his dog, Barney; his father, Gayle (Claire) Olson of Holdrege; mother, Alyce Olson of Aurora, Colorado; sisters: Julie Olson of Pheonix, Arizona, Cheri (Jim) Lipan of Colorado; one brother, Mike Olson of Colorado; half-sister, Elena (Mike) King of Holdrege; grandmother, Louise Brown of Hastings, Nebraska; father-in-law, Dean Berry of Holdrege; brothers-in-law: Rod (Maxine) Berry of Loomis, Nebraska, Kim (Jill) Berry of Westchester, Ohio; along with numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established and will be designated at a later date.
