Kenneth L. Pedersen

A Memorial Service for Kenneth L. Pedersen will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Mr. Brian Borden officiating. A private inurnment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.

Kenneth Lee "Ken" Pedersen, 63 years of age, of Red Cloud, Nebraska, formerly of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his home in Red Cloud. Ken was born in Holdrege on March 29, 1961, the eldest of four children, born to Donald and Gerry (Billeter) Pedersen. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1979.

Following his education, he began working on the family farm with his dad and siblings.  He then went to work for Lloyd Waller Feedlot, CHS, and the J.C. Schemper Harvest Crew.

Ken was united in marriage to Carolyn Bibbey and they were blessed with three children:  Nicole, Hayley, and Mason.  The couple would later divorce.

Ken was then married to Lisa Splattstoesser.  The couple enjoyed camping and long nature drives to watch the eagles and deer.  They would later divorce. Ken was most content with his special friend, Dedra Smith and their dog, Milo.

Ken enjoyed fishing, all Husker sports, watching NASCAR, shooting pool, playing golf, and loved to camp at Harlan County Lake.  No one could build a better fire then Ken!  In the fall of 1980, Ken was injured in a farm accident at the home place and lost his right arm.  Later in life, he was active with an amputee golf group.

Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Ken is survived by his parents:  Don and Gerry Pedersen of Holdrege; his children:  Nicole Buettner and husband, Niles of Holdrege; Hayley Durgan of Holdrege; and Mason Pedersen of Holdrege; his siblings:  Angie Finn of Minden, Nebraska; Tim Pedersen and wife, Julie of Kearney, Nebraska; and Mike Pedersen of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Book Signing will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Ken's honor, and kindly suggested to the Holdrege FFA.
