A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Kenneth J. Smith will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Horizons Community Church in Lincoln, Nebraska with Pastors Mandy Barkhaus and Derek Steinacher, officiating.

An Inurnment Service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 3:30 p.m., at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, Nebraska,
Kenneth John "Ken" Smith, 70 years of age, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, under the care of St. Croix Hospice at The Monarch by Eastmont in Lincoln. Ken was born on January 31, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the youngest of two children, born to John and Florence (Dietrich) Smith. He attended and received his education from Lincoln College Prep in Philadelphia and graduated with the class of 1970. Ken pursued higher education from Temple University and graduated in 1976, attaining a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Ken was united in marriage to Marti Rosenthal and the couple were blessed with two sons: Ken, Jr. and Micah.
On October 27, 2017, Ken was united in marriage to Amy (Schmoker) Perdew in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family made their home in Lincoln and the couple raised their daughter, Hope Perdew.
Ken worked at Mutual of Omaha as the Vice President of Critical Illness, Disability Income, and Supplemental Health; he later worked at Assurity Life Insurance Company, as the Director of Health Sales; and most recently, as a Sales Manager and Product Manager at Ken Smith Sales Training and Consulting. Ken also enjoyed meeting new people as a Personal Trainer at the Cooper YMCA in Lincoln.
In his free time, Ken enjoyed spending time with family; reading; listening to podcasts; exercising; and watching sports and Indy Racing.
Ken was a member of the Horizons Community Church, where he served as the Chair of the Steering Team.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Sandy Schmoker.
Ken is survived by his wife, Amy Perdew-Smith of Lincoln; two sons: Ken Smith, Jr. and his wife, Heather of Lincoln; and Micah Smith and his wife, Julia of Holland, Michigan; daughter, Hope Perdew of Lincoln; his grandchildren: Samuel and Shiphrah; sister, Judy Moore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Mary Pro and her husband, Chris, of Lincoln; along with extended family members: Arlyn and Susan Rieker of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; and Braden Mohr, also of Lincoln.
There will not be a visitation or viewing. The family has chosen cremation.
