A memorial service for Kevin D. Christensen will be held on September 13, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Jean Clayton officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Kevin Dean Christensen, 63 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on September 7, 2024, at his home. Kevin was born in North Platte, Nebraska on June 28, 1961, the second of three children, born to Larry and Donna (Pfeifer) Christensen. He received his education from Gothenburg Public Schools and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1979.
Following his education, Kevin worked for Dean's Body Shop in Gothenburg, Nebraska and Dannull Engine Sales & Service in Holdrege doing auto body & vehicle repair. His last employment was at Tyson Foods in Lexington, where he worked for twenty years as the Process Safety & Ergonomics Manager.
On March 2, 1991, Kevin was united in marriage to Kay Johnson. Kevin & Kay along with her two children, Bodie and Kendra, made their home in Holdrege. Kevin loved gardening with his late wife Kay and also spent many hours making wooden toys for the kids in the family. Kevin had a passion for fishing and enjoyed spending time on their pontoon boat at Jeffrey Lake.
Kevin was preceded in death by his wife, Kay (Johnson) Christensen on February 23, 2015; grandparents, Al and Evelyn Christensen; Richard and Magdalon Pfeifer; and one great-niece, Eva Ackerman.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Larry and Donna Christensen of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, Ken Christensen and his wife, Nancy of Gothenburg, Nebraska; sister, Kelli Ackerman and her husband, Rick of Lincoln, Nebraska; one stepson, Bodie Weeder and his wife, Tiffany of Elwood, Nebraska; one stepdaughter, Kendra Johnson of North Carolina; four step-grandchildren: Payton and Hudson Weeder and Kane and Kinlee Kolling; two brothers-in-law: Joe Johnson and his wife, Jan; Jerry Johnson and his wife, Brenda all of Bertrand; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation. The family is honoring Kevin's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Kevin's honor and will be designated at a later date.
