Kindra Jane Wilbur, 18 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008 as the result of a motor vehicle accident near Holdrege. Kindra was born December 8, 1989 at Fernandina Beach, Florida, the daughter of Mark and Karen (Karschner) Wilbur. She was baptized in Alma, Nebraska and then confirmed at the Joy Lutheran Church in St. Marys, Georgia. Kindra received her primary education at Mary Lee Clark Elementary and then Camden County Middle School in St. Marys. When Kindra was thirteen, the family relocated to Holdrege, where she completed her education and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 2008. Kindra's future plans were to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln this fall, where she was to study Occupational Therapy. During her high school years, she enjoyed the friendship bonds formed in Color Guard, was active in choir, and her passion was playing golf, which she lettered in. She loved her teammates and thought of her golf coach, Mr. Tim Mattson as her second father. Kindra was currently working as a Dietary Aide at Holdrege Memorial Homes, where helping others was her way of life. Kindra had been awarded two scholarships from Holdrege Memorial Homes. One scholarship was for her senior year, taking a college course in English from Central Community College and the second scholarship for UNL.
Her infectious personality was contagious, spirited and carefree. Everyone she came in contact with was touched by her and a mark was left on their hearts. One person she touched deeply was her boyfriend and future fiancé, B.J. Also of importance in her life were her family and her two dogs, Duff and Mytzi and cat, Precious. Kindra enjoyed fishing, listening to music and her favorite flower was the Iris. She loved cruising around town and spending time with her friends and family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her parents who were also her best friends, Mark and Karen Wilbur of Holdrege; grandfather, Harold Karschner of Holdrege; her Godmother, Susan Williams of Lincoln, Nebraska, her soul mate, B.J. Turner of Holdrege; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Elva Jane (Campbell) Karschner; paternal grandparents, Lester Lee and Norma Jean (Linner) Wilbur; and first cousin, Kyle Karschner.
