Kurt Warren Peterson, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the age of 62 years. Kurt was born in Holdrege on October 12, 1952, the third of five children born to Willard and Faye (Urbom) Peterson. He was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church and received his education in Holdrege, graduating from high school with the class of 1970. Following high school, he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating in December 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He continued his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree on May 15, 1982.

Kurt moved to Colorado and began his law practice in Fort Morgan. After two years, he moved to Denver where he began employment with a legal services company before later joining the practice of a semi-retired attorney, where Kurt made his transition to solo private law practice. During his years as a solo practitioner Kurt specialized in bankruptcy, personal injury and family law; practicing until his death.

Kurt loved adventure and exploring. His interests extended from mountain biking, hiking, camping, parasailing, snorkeling, motorcycling, night scuba diving, sky diving, and parachuting, to hot air ballooning. His love of nature and travel took him, to many exotic places.

Kurt's love of music manifested itself early when he helped form The Equinox, his band in high school. He loved guitars and owned many through the years, and getting together with friends for regular jam sessions was a special delight. Kurt's love of dogs led him to own several faithful companions of different breeds during his life. His care for humankind was demonstrated when he "adopted" a child through World Vision, an organization that matches children-in-need with willing sponsors. His commitment to family and love for family was paramount.

Kurt was preceded in death by his parents and by his nephew, Steve Jacobson. Family members he leaves to celebrate his life include his three sisters and brother: Connie and her husband, Larry Jacobson; Trudi and her husband, Steve Frisell; all of Holdrege; Liane and her husband, Jay Connelly of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Dennis Peterson of Broomfield, Colorado. Also left to celebrate his life are special friend, Carol Aldrich of Superior, Colorado, along with three nieces and four nephews: Vicky and her husband, Ron McNiel; Andrea and her husband, Jason McAllister; Krista Connelly; Bart and his wife, Debbie Jacobson; Chadd and his wife, Kristine Jacobson; Blake and his wife, Sarah Connelly and Alec Frisell. Kurt also leaves a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
