LaMont Englund, 93 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. LaMont was born October 26, 1923 on a farm north of Holdrege, in Phelps County, Nebraska, the eldest of seven children born to Arthur G. and Judith A. (Carlson) Englund. He was confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where he accepted Christ at that time and as an adult he was baptized at the Moses Hill Covenant Church. He received his primary education from rural school District #25 and graduated with the Holdrege High School the class of 1941.

They made their home on the farm four and three-fourths miles north of Holdrege on the Lincoln Street gravel road where LaMont was born. They operated a family farm corporation known as Golden Tassel Farms, Inc. with their three sons. He was very proud of his heritage and of Phelps County and considered it to be the garden spot of the nation.
LaMont loved to work on old tractors and enjoyed traveling with Jean. He was a member of the Moses Hill Evangelical Covenant Church, serving on the church board, the Moses Hill Cemetery Board, the Sheridan Township Board and the R-6 School Board throughout the years.
