Celebration of Life Service for Lanny L. Lambrecht will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastors Paul Bauman and Murray Jones officiating.  In honor of Lanny's preference for casual dress, formal attire is not required to attend.  Interment will be held in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege following the services.

Lanny Lee Lambrecht, 55 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Bryan LGH – East Campus in Lincoln, Nebraska as the result of complications from a heart issue.  Lanny was born December 18, 1959 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Leonard L. and Carolyn R. (Packer) Lambrecht.  He was baptized as an infant at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Grand Island and later renewed his faith as an adult.

Lanny began his education at the Wood River Elementary School until moving to Holdrege, where he completed his elementary years at R-4 in Phelps County.  Lanny started his high school career in Holdrege, and completed his final three years at Wood River Rural High School, graduating with the class of 1978.  In 1979 he was united in marriage to Mary Sutton and to this union two daughters were born:  Heather Dawn and Amanda Lea.  The family made their home in Wood River, where Lanny was employed by his uncle as a supervisor in the potato fields with Packer Potatoes.  In 1987, he began to pursue his love for flying and was employed with Olson Flying Service out of Holdrege as an Ag Pilot and Mechanic.  His passion for flying evolved into owning his business, Lambrecht Aviation in Holdrege as well as managing Brewster Field.

On December 6, 1996 he married the love of his life and soul mate, Mary (Fetters) Nelson and with this union Lanny became the best step-father one could imagine to Joe, Megan, Drew, and Ethan.  Lanny and Mary loved being involved with aviation on the state and national level.  Lanny was currently serving as Vice-President for the (NATA) Nebraska Aviation Trade Association.  Lanny and Mary loved to travel, enjoyed flying the Cub, multiple home improvement projects, and in recent years the time spent on the back patio.  Besides his love for his work, more importantly, was his love for his six grandchildren.  Last year, Mary began to work full-time with Lanny at the shop and it became evident this past week that it was God's gift to the couple these past months as they spent days working side-by-side together.  They were truly each other's best friend.

Lanny's hobby was woodworking, especially building airplanes that the grandchildren could ride on.  He also enjoyed building furniture, and was talented in every area of being a handy-man.  Lanny had a love for speed that involved not only airplanes, but motorcycles and cars.  He also built model cars, model trains, made his own ammunition for recreation for his guns, and knew where every tool was in his many tool chests.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and a special uncle, Rollin Packer.  Lanny leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Mary Lambrecht of Holdrege; his mother, Carolyn Olson of Elm Creek, Nebraska; father-in-law and mother-in-law:  Floyd and Darlene Fetters of Loomis, Nebraska; his six children:  Heather Rice and her husband, Matt of Olathe, Kansas; Joe Beckman and his wife, Amanda of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Amanda Lambrecht of Salt Lake City, Utah; Megan Valenta and her husband, James of Snohomish, Washington; Drew Beckman of Holdrege; and Ethan Nelson of Holdrege; six grandchildren:  Kyan, Lauren, and Easton Rice, Cienna and Peyton Lambrecht, and Alex Beckman; three sisters:  Cindy Wilson of Holdrege; Kim Jonas and her husband, Todd of Ansley, Nebraska; and Darcie Ross and her husband, Troy of Denton, Nebraska; five brothers-in-law:  Bob Fetters of Dunning, Nebraska; Rod Fetters and his wife, Deannah of Loomis; Randy Fetters of Jetmore, Kansas; Richard Fetters and his wife, Virginia of Loomis; and Roger Fetters of Loomis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
