Funeral Services for Larileen A. Lindstrom will be held at the Fridhem Lutheran Church in Funk, Nebraska on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Daren Popple officiating. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place, and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery east of Funk.
Larileen Amanda Lindstrom, 82 years of age of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Larileen was born on August 9, 1934 at Norfolk, Nebraska, the second of three daughters born to Larry I. and Helen M. (Hahlbeck) Schroeder. She received her education from Holdrege Public Schools, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1952.
On November 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Glen D. Lindstrom at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, and to this union four children were born: Steve, Martha, David, and Bryan. The family made their home on a farm northwest of Funk, where Larileen focused on raising their children, and helped Glen with the farming operation. Once the kids were in school, she began a long career as the legal secretary at Aten-Noble & Ide Law Firm for over 29 years. On November 27, 2015, the couple celebrated their 60 th Wedding Anniversary. The last few years the couple had made their home together at Holdrege Memorial.
In past years, Larileen enjoyed bowling, and was an avid sports fan. Larileen always looked at having a daughter who was deaf, as a unique gift from God. Larileen devoted a large part of her life in support of the deaf community, and was very active supporting individuals affected by hearing loss. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Fridhem Lutheran Church, where she served as past Sunday School teacher, and was on the Church Council. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Funk Village Board, and the Phelps County Extension.
Besides her parents; Larileen was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Carl and Ida Lindstrom; one sister, Donna Rossen and her husband, Clayton, and brother-in-law, Addison Johnson.
She leaves to celebrate her life; her husband of 61 years, Glen Lindstrom of Holdrege; four children: Steve Lindstrom and his wife, Paula of Gilbert, Arizona, Martha Pajares and her husband, Jose Luis of Concord, California, David Lindstrom of Kearney, Nebraska, and Bryan Lindstrom and his wife, Julie of Bertrand, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Meagan Johnson and her fiancé, Brett Peters, Amanda Browitt and her husband, Jordan, and Kasey Lindstrom; four great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Ava, Neveah, and Bentley; one sister, Carol Schroeder and her husband, John of Grand Island, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Cecil Lindstrom and his wife, Karen of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Lila Johnson of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Larileen's honor and kindly suggested to Fridhem Lutheran Church, the Phelps Memorial Health Center, or the First Responders of Funk.
