Funeral Services for Larry A. Chase will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Daren Popple officiating. Interment will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery in rural Harlan County, Nebraska, with military honors provided by Fay Cady American Legion Post #118, in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
Larry Allen Chase, 71 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Minden, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society – St. John's Center in Kearney. Larry was born on November 11, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Donald and Rowena (Zimmerman) Chase.
Shortly after his birth, the family moved to a farm between Bertrand, Nebraska and Oxford, Nebraska. In 1955, the family sold the farm and moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado, where Larry attended Morgan County Schools. Larry graduated with the class of 1965 from Weldon Valley High School. In April 1966, he joined the Army National Guard in Weldona, Colorado. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and served his country as a General Supply Clerk, until his honorable discharge in December of 1971.
In 1967, Larry's parents purchased the Hy-Way Café and the family made their home in Minden.
In 1970, Larry was united in marriage to Deborah D. Quincy, and to this union one daughter was born: Tiffany Laine Chase and they made their home in Minden, where Larry worked at Minden Beef. The couple later divorced.
Larry met Karen Cady in Gibbon, Nebraska and the couple married in 1975; later making their home in Lexington. The couple later divorced. Larry and his daughter, Tiffany, moved to Minden in 1985, where Larry worked for Wardcraft Homes. Larry was always a hard worker and had many different jobs, but his true passion was being a door-to-door Fuller Brush and Watkins Salesmen for several years. Larry moved to Kearney later in life and worked for Chief Industries, until his health no longer allowed him to work.
He enjoyed visits from family and friends, fishing, camping and hunting.
Larry was preceded in death by; his parents, and grandparents: Kezia and Arthur Hendricks and Ray and Minnie Chase; and two brothers-in-law: David Lovewell and Larry Dolan.
Larry leaves to celebrate his life; his daughter, Tiffany Schroeder and her husband, Randy of Alma, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Kalei Freeland and her husband, Tyler of Loomis, Nebraska; Brandon Chase and his wife, Leona of Pooler, Georgia; and Robert Lippitt of Kearney, Nebraska; two step-grandchildren: Seth Schroeder and his wife, Ellie of Kearney; and Ethan Schroeder and his significant other, Emily of Omaha, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren: Harper and Marshall Freeland, Tayleigh and Jaxtyn Lippitt; and four step-great-grandchildren: Braxton and Brady Schroeder; and Jaxon and Annelise Schroeder; three sisters: Donna Lovewell of Superior, Nebraska; Carol Dolan of Kearney; and Bonnie Soderquist and her husband, Keith of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one brother: John Chase of Omaha, Nebraska; along with countless other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Larry's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
