Larry Gene Lans, 81, of Mesa, Arizona, (formerly of Stamford and Loveland, Colorado), died Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from a car/pedestrian accident in Mesa. Larry was born on May 28, 1939, in rural Stamford, to Clare and Ethel (Anderson) Lans. He grew up in Stamford, graduating from Stamford High School with the class of 1957, where he excelled in basketball, football, and track. Larry loved to joke about how he graduated 3rd in this class . . . there were only 3 boys in the class of '57!

After high school, Larry farmed and ranched with his Dad and later with his brother Dean. After Larry retired from farming, he worked seasonally at Tri-Co Farm Services and Cargill.

On March 2, 1960, Larry was united in marriage to Catherine (Dunn) Lans and to this union four daughters were born: Lana, Lawana, LaVonne, and Laura.  In 1989, Larry lost his wife of 29 years, Catherine, from her battle with cancer.

Larry was united in marriage to Carolyn (Dunn) Lans on May 6, 1990.

Larry loved to camp, travel, and spend time with his family. He was an avid sports spectator all of his life. He thoroughly enjoyed capturing and sharing his memories of his family with pictures and videos.

Larry was known for his quick wit, being a loyal friend to many, and was a great conversationalist. He had a contagious smile, never had anything bad to say, and was always willing to help those in need. If you knew Larry it goes without saying, his faith in the Lord was always first and it showed in the way he treated everyone. His love for his family and friends was equally as strong.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carolyn Lans of Mesa; four daughters: Lana and Dan  Hoffmann of Doniphan, Nebraska; Lawana and Rick Siebels of Grand Island, Nebraska; LaVonne and Chris Polonis of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Laura and Troy Jarosik of Loveland, Colorado; Carolyn's three children:  Janice and David DePiero of Jacksonville, Oregon; Larry and Linda Martin of Santa Ana, California; and Jerry and Ellen Martin of Jacksonville, Oregon; thirteen grandchildren:  Jackie (Mark), Bobbi (Justin), Connor, Taylor (Beth), Tory (Cassi), Trisha (Jeremy), Aleksi, Isaak, Ellie, Neeley, Libby, Jagger; Carolyn's grandson, Greg Martin; ten great-grandchildren: Wilder, Rae, Wesley, Rayn, Makyah, Kaydence, Kyndall, Maclane, Jaxon, and Tatum; his sister, Carolyn and Terry Hendricks of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers: Norman and Jonelle Lans of Lexington, Nebraska; and Dean and Billie Jean Lans of Stamford; brother-in-law, Charles Dunn of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Connie and Don German of Honolulu, Hawaii, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents and wife, Catherine, he was preceded in death by one infant brother; Carolyn's grandson, Tyler Martin; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Jake and Bernadine Dunn; sister-in-law, Darla Dunn; brothers-in-law: Ron Stafford, and Jack Moye; nephew, David Stafford; nephew-in-law, Dan Mundy; and great-nephew, Jason Lans.
