On September 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary Jean Dymacek of Orleans, Nebraska and to this union two children were born:  James Douglas and Susan Kay.  Due to Larry's lifelong struggle with asthma and hay fever, he and Mary Jean moved to Seattle, Washington in the fall of 1956, where he was employed by the City of Seattle. After 27 years of service, Larry retired at the age of 59 and the couple moved to Camano Island, Washington. Larry was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford. He was also a 25-year member of the Washington Wildlife Committee in Washington State. He was very active with the fishing committee, where he enjoyed putting on large salmon barbecues and delicious crab feeds for friends and family with seafood he caught himself. He was a beloved Grandpa who always made time to play. He was loved by all who were fortunate enough to call him family or friend.

Besides his parents, and his wife, Mary Jean; he was preceded in death by four sisters: Muriel Tammen, Evelyn Russell, Elma Johnston and Ilene Russell; sister-in-law, Carole Logston; and brother-in-law, Charles LeRoy Dymacek in infancy.

Larry leaves to celebrate his life; son, James Douglas Logston and his wife, Kate of Loveland, Colorado; daughter, Susan Kay McFadden and her husband, Larry of Bothell, Washington; four grandchildren: Justin Logston and his wife, Jordon of Fort Collins, Colorado; Megan Logston of Loveland; Katie Aldrich and her husband, Jason of Mount Vernon, Washington; and Kimberly Ritter and her husband, Timothy of Mount Vernon; four great-grandsons: William Aldrich (named after his Great-Grandfather); and James, Luke and Daniel Ritter; brother, Jim Logston of Holdrege (formerly of Orleans); brother-in-law, Jim Dymacek and his wife, Janis of Waverly, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
