Celebration of Life Service for Larry A. White will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Reverend Eldon E. Fablinger officiating. Interment will be held at the Oxford Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Oxford American Legion Post #219 in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.
Larry Allen White, 69 years of age, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Larry was born December 24, 1946 at Holdrege, the middle child born to Ralph and Carol (West) White. He received his education from Oxford Public Schools and graduated in 1965.
Larry was a hard worker from a very young age. He entered the United States Army and served from 1966-1968. Larry then began his professional career at GTE in 1968 in Kearney, Nebraska. His career took him to Grinnell, IA, Fort Wayne, IN, Bedford, TX and Caracas, Venezuela. After retiring from GTE in 1997 he went to work for Preformed Line Products and returned to his hometown of Oxford. He spent his last years of his career traveling his assigned region until his retirement in 2014.
On February 8, 1967 he was united in marriage to Denise Rae Cropp. They were blessed with two children: Brent and Jolisa. They made their homes in several places due to his advancements in his career.
Larry's hobbies included: cooking, watching Husker football, community service and he had a love for all animals. He also enjoyed sharing a drink with his friends at the local bar. Most of all, his pride and joy was being an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his love for his friends, his generosity to his community and his sense of humor. He was a wonderful example to his children and grandchildren by teaching them to be hardworking, strong and to enjoy life to the fullest.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Carol White; his brother, Gerry White, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Idella Cropp and brother-in-law, Ron Cropp.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Denise of Oxford; two children: Brent White and his wife, Veronica of Ft. Worth, Texas and Jolisa Kohout of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; three grandchildren: Dakota, Brayden and Ashlyn; sister, Joann Davis and her husband, Jon of Navarre, Florida; sister-in-law, Julie Cropp of Kearney, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Larry Cropp and his wife, Donna of Ft. Worth, Texas and a host of nephews, nieces and countless friends he loved like family.
A memorial has been established in Larry's honor to fund a project for a veteran's memorial he was instrumental in starting in his community.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
