Memorial Services for Lauralta "Lori" E. Pristavec will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Buck Linton-Hendrick, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Lauralta "Lori" E. Pristavec, 65 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Lori was born July 9, 1941 at Longmont, Colorado, second of four children of Carl and Evelyn (Rathbun) Bowen. She received her education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1959. Following her education she was united in marriage to Jack Vaughan and to this union two children were born: David Alan and Daniel Lee. The family made their home on a farm north of Holdrege.
On July 30, 1970 she was united in marriage to Mike B. Pristavec at Hastings, Nebraska and to this union two children were born: Mya Michel and Micheal Jacob. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Lori was employed by the Brewster Hospital in nursing and later at Becton Dickinson until her retirement due to her failing health following over thirty years of service. Lori was an active member of AA for over twenty-five years, sponsoring several people throughout the years. She was also co-owner of Pristavec Monuments and Monument Services in Holdrege since 1969.
Lori had a special place in her heart for children and was always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed assistance. Her positive outlook on life and energetic, cheerful personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Mike of Holdrege; three children: David Vaughan of Arizona, Mya Walker and her husband, Dave of Orleans, Nebraska and M.J. Pristavec and his wife, Kelli of Holdrege; five grandchildren: David Vaughan and his wife, Christi, Jason Vaughan, Brandon Schaul, Alisa Walker and Nathaniel Hargitt; three great grandchildren: Hunter, Kyrah and Arionna; two sisters: Carla Hunt and her husband, Jim of Salem, Indiana and Judy Fox and her husband, Jim of Middlebury, Indiana; one brother, Kevin Bowen of Omaha, Nebraska; one sister-in-law: Vera Crne and her husband, Victor of Podpec, Slovenia; one brother-in-law, Bojan Pristavec and his wife, Mojca of Podpec, Slovenia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Vaughan; father-in-law, Jacob Pristavec and his wife, Neza and mother-in-law, Antoneja Pristavec and sister-in-law, Regena Polensek.
There will be no public visitation, the family is honoring Lori's wishes of cremation.
